Roxanna Simmons -Watchman Intercessor/Programs Manager

Roxanna has been involved with Spring Canyon since 1987 when she attended her first Rocky Moutain High as an instructor.  Her growing up years were spent on a working farm in Indiana.  Taking care of animals, raising horses and helping in the fields kept her busy and out of trouble.

She volunteered at Spring Canyon on and off throughout her years in the Air Force. In 1996, she ran the Rocky Mountain High program during the summer.  She came on staff full time in February 2000.  Today she handles the programs for the family side of camp as well as working with the summer staff and being a fully qualified Spring Canyon utility infielder. Roxanna and her cat, Elijah, live fulltime at the camp.

Chris Nicewarner, LtCol. USMC (Ret) - Outdoor Program Leader

Chris joined the Spring Canyon staff after serving 21 years as a Marine in the infantry and special ops communities. A 1991 graduate of the Naval Academy, he was a student at Rocky Mountain High back in the early years when Tom Hemingway was still very involved in the running of the program and the mentoring of young leaders.

Chris, his wife Tina, and daughter Juli have been involved with Christian camp ministry on the East Coast for several years and know first-hand the tremendous impact that a week or two at camp can have on individuals and families. The whole family is excited about the opportunity to serve the military community through Spring Canyon’s outdoor programs.

Charlie Sturgis -- Facilities Manager

Hello, I am Charlie Sturgis. The Lord has truly blessed me and my family by bringing us to this place of service for Him. I retired from the US Air Force after 23 years, knowing the Lord had even greater things in store for my family by serving Him in full time Christian Ministry .

My wonderful wife, Beverly is very happy about our work here at Spring Canyon . We have three children. Our oldest, Katie, is married (to Brian Todd) living in Colorado Springs with their son, our wonderful grandson, James.

Anna and Nathan are now both attending college.

My testimony is very simple. I became a child of God by accepting His grace as a teenager, and have been blessed by the Lord ever since. I have found the Lord faithful and true. As the Psalmist tells us, "He will carry you through"! Seeing the opportunities here to reach others for our Lord, to serve as the Facilities Manager, to relate to the military families, and take our witness to all who come here, or see us in the community, brings a smile to our hearts each and every day.

Because of His grace and love

Serving our Lord -- Charlie and the Sturgis Family

I am a Great-grandmother now with a whole lot of loving family!

When I'm not working I love to spend time landscaping, remodeling my home, and exercising. Stop by the kitchen and say "hi" whenever you're here.
