Information for participants

Thank you for your Rocky Mountain High registration! We look forward to getting to know you better and are excited about your participation. Prepare your heart, mind and body for a great adventure. We expect God to use the mountains and every individual involved in Rocky Mountain High to challenge you to a deeper and more certain faith in Jesus Christ!

Your session begins with dinner (1730 hrs) on Saturday and ends with breakfast (0800) the following Saturday.

  • We recommend that you arrive at camp for check-in between 1300 and 1600 on your arrival day to familiarize yourself with camp. Dinner at 1730 will be your first activity.

  • You are responsible for arranging your own transportation to Spring Canyon. If you are traveling by air, you may request a ride to/from the Denver airport provided by Spring Canyon for $20/person, each way. If you are interested in this service, please contact Spring Canyon at least 3 weeks prior to your session. Spring Canyon does NOT provide this service to/from the Colorado Springs airport.

  • If you have requested a pickup from the Denver airport by Spring Canyon, please schedule a flight arrival no later than 1230 on the day that your session begins. We are located 3 hours away from the airport so we can only make one trip for each session. If you arrive early in the morning, be prepared to wait until other participants arrive.

  • If you need transportation to the Denver airport for your return flight, please do NOT schedule your departure before 1400 hours on the last day of your session to allow adequate travel time from camp.

  • Approximately 3 weeks prior to your session, you will receive an e-mail with final logistics information (confirming transportation times, pick-up locations, etc.). This e-mail will be sent to the primary and alternate e-mail you provided in the registration. Please keep an eye out for this message as it will contain important information about making sure you get to camp!

  • Your activities during RMH will require the proper gear for you to fully enjoy your experience. Please review the clothing and equipment list as a checklist to ensure that you bring all of the required items. Some items on the list can be provided by camp or are optional, and are noted as such. One of the most important pieces of gear is comfortable, broken-in hiking shoes or boots. We recommend footwear with ankle support as we will be hiking over uneven terrain with backpacks. If you don’t already have a pair, please plan to borrow or purchase some prior to arrival – and spend some time in them until they feel comfortable. Happy feet make a happy camper!

  • Keep in mind that even normal physical activities are more strenuous at altitude. Spring Canyon is located at 9,000’ and we’ll go even higher. Preparing yourself physically will make your stay more enjoyable, and less prone to injury or altitude sickness. I would recommend a regular routine of cardiovascular exercise if you are not doing so already.

  • While at Spring Canyon, you will stay at Camp Buxton in 10-person framed tents. The tents are each equipped with 5 sets of bunk beds and have a gravel pad floor. Showers and restrooms are available in a nearby bathhouse. Limited laundry facilities are available at Camp Buxton.

Begin thinking and praying now about what God might show you during your stay. This is a valuable chance to spend time with God in some of His most amazing creation, and to fellowship with other believers and experienced officers!

If you have any questions, you can review all of this information and more at our website! Or feel free to give me a call.
