Outdoor Staff Opportunities

There are a limited number of summer staff opportunities available with the Outdoor Program at Spring Canyon. If you are interested, please review this page and the job descriptions page. Then, if you have a heart for service and love the outdoors, complete the application documents and maybe we'll see you in the Rockies this summer!

The Rocky Mountain High (RMH) program was started as a ministry to instill servant-leader characteristics in young military officers, enlisted personnel, and academy and ROTC students. This is done by proclaiming the message of Jesus Christ to these young people – not merely in word, but especially in our actions. We dare not proclaim the importance of servant-leadership if we are unwilling to exhibit it ourselves! And that is exactly what is expected of all Outdoor Program summer staff.

If your primary reason for working at Spring Canyon is to participate in outdoor activities, then this may not be the best place for you. Outdoor Staff must, obviously, have a deep appreciation and love for the outdoors, but that is not why we are here. We are here to be living sacrifices and examples of Christ to both guests and fellow staff members. Outdoor staff should have the spiritual initiative to see ministry opportunity around them and to respond in mature fashion.

Your summer at Spring Canyon will be a rewarding experience, but it will not be easy. Your work week will often exceed 40 hrs/wk. Frequently, a typical day will begin before 7 AM and will not end until well after dinner. You should expect to work 6 days per week, and in cold, rain, and probably snow! You will live in a frame tent with roommates and minimal comfort facilities. Staff should have a spirit of adventure and be willing to learn new skills and help out wherever needed.

My desire for the summer staff is not only that they be examples of Christ to all people, but that they will grow in maturity in their Faith. Practically, this is done through morning devotions and Bible studies. Spiritually, this is done by casting our cares on the Lord, by being vulnerable and open with one another, and by wrestling daily in prayer and the Word. The fruit of these practices is an exciting, Spirit-filled ministry to our future military leaders. If this type of opportunity excites you, please contact me for further information.
