SUMMARY:Winter Retreat 2
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Col Keagan McLeese\, USAF \nColonel Keagan McLeese is the current 9th Reconnaissance Wing Commander and the installation commander of Beale AFB\, CA\, the home of the U-2 Dragon Lady. He’s an alumni of the USAFA class of 2002\, having flown the T-6\, T-38\, F-15\, F-22\, F-35\, F-16\, E-11\, KC-135\, and U-2 with seven deployments in the Pacific and the Middle East. In April 2025\, Colonel McLeese returned from a successful combat deployment to Saudi Arabia\, where he was the wing commander of the 378th Air Expeditionary Wing and the installation commander of Prince Sultan Air Base. \nColonel McLeese has been married to his high school sweetheart\, Dottie McLeese\, for over 23 years and has four teenage children: Quarton (USAFA ‘28)\, Carilyn\, Madilyn\, and Cavan. They all love the Lord Jesus Christ. They have been members of 13 different churches\, pouring themselves into each one through various ministries\, including OCF. In their spare time\, when they aren’t with the kids or in the church\, Keagan loves running and lifting weights\, and Dottie loves to craft\, crochet\, and knit. \nTopic: “The Full Armor of God: Ephesians 6:10-18” \nAt the end of his letter to the Ephesians\, Paul makes one final charge to the church “Be strong in the Lord\,” and “put on the full armor of God\,” reminding the church not to battle mankind\, instead focusing our effort “against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” What does that look like in application? What does the Bible teach us about wearing the full armor of God? Come rest in the Word of God and let Him prepare you for the spiritual battles you are facing and the ones that are bound to come\, so that (in Paul’s words) “and having done everything\, to stand firm.” \nGuest Ambassadors:COL Rob and Tami Jassey\, USA (Ret.) \nMake a Reservation

SUMMARY:Winter Retreat 3
DESCRIPTION:Winter Retreat #3 will be 5 nights. \nSpeaker: \nLt Col Scott Crabtree\, USAF (Ret.) & Col Ben Schill\, USAF \nLt Col Scott “Weed” Crabtree\, USAF (Ret.) is a federal employee flying the QF-16 at Holloman AFB\, NM\, since 2019. He and his wife\, Colleen\, have been married 22 years. They have been participating in Spring Canyon events nearly every year since discovering it in 2012. Colleen recently returned to military service as a traditional Air Guardsman to fly the KC-135 for the AKANG. Having finally escaped the dark ages of diapers and car seats\, they seize joy in the trials and blessings of their five children (16\, 15\, 13\, 11\, & 9) and associated homeschool and extracurricular activities. \nCol Ben “Showdown” Schill is the Commander of the 149th Operations Group in San Antonio\, TX\, training F-16 pilots for the U.S. Air Force. He has over 3\,100 flight hours and more than 150 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. His wife of 21 years\, Stacey\, and their five children live in Boerne\, TX\, where Stacey finds time for volunteer nursing\, real estate work\, and homeschooling. \n\nTopic: \n“Philosophical Tools for Developing a Christian Worldview”\nWe will consider implications and applications from Nancy Pearcey’s book “Total Truth – Liberating Christianity from Its Cultural Captivity.” Nancy explains that since the time of the ancient Greeks\, western philosophical concepts have divided the abstract (faith\, spirituality\, character) from the material (observation\, ends\, means). This bifurcation can hamstring how we approach military service as Christians\, as well as handicap the survivability of our children’s faith when they leave home. We’ll discuss key principles from her book to lay a foundation for future study and reflection. \nGuest Ambassadors:\nCH(MAJ) Tom and Jeri Strong\, USA (Ret.)\nMake a Reservation

SUMMARY:Winter Sports Retreat 2
DESCRIPTION:Speaker:\nCOL Kevin Bouren\, USA\nKevin Bouren is a Soldier in the Lord’s Army and served as a front-line ambassador for Christ while wearing the uniform of our Nation’s Army for more than 30 years. A native of Phoenix\, Arizona\, he is a 1997 Graduate of West Point\, commanded Soldiers in combat in Iraq\, and served in numerous combat and peacekeeping operations around the globe. Kevin is passionate about making disciples and helping them to fulfill the Great Commission. His service to the Nation and our Lord is enabled and enhanced by a thriving marriage to Adra\, his lovely wife of 25 years\, who changes the world one child at a time as a homeschool mom to their four delightful children: Kayla (20)\, Brady (17)\, Annalise (8)\, and Luke (6). They enjoy the outdoors\, mentoring officers through Officers’ Christian Fellowship\, and using their gifts to serve together on film sets as they proclaim Christ to the world. \nKevin and Adra have been actively involved in OCF since Kevin’s Plebe Year at West Point\, and they have continued to lead small group Bible studies while staying connected to the OCF community through White Sulphur Springs and Spring Canyon. Having just retired from the Army in October 2022—where they lived at 17 different addresses encompassing 9 states—the Bouren Family is now traversing the country in their RV. They are continuing their passion in Christian filmmaking and pursuing God’s next calling\, which includes building a multi-generational vision for their family in the context of great Christian community\, four seasons\, and snow! \nTopic:\n“Man Up: Going ALL IN for Jesus!” \nMen are commissioned to “man up” as husbands\, fathers\, officers\, ministers\, friends\, stewards\, and disciple-makers. As the darkness grows in our world\, so must the men grow up in the strength and authority of Jesus Christ to meet this darkness with the Light of God’s Word. This is a message targeted at men but it’s for everyone! If you have a father\, husband\, brother\, son\, or fiancé in your life\, or any other man you can influence\, then this week is for you! \nGuest Ambassadors:\nDr. (LTC) Luke and Karen Hofmann\, USA\nMake a Reservation

DESCRIPTION:Speaker:\nLCDR Eric and Melanie McMullen\, USN (Ret.)\nLCDR Eric McMullen has been involved with OCF for over 30 years\, starting as a cadet and midshipman at Virginia Tech\, where he and Melanie met. They have been married for over 25 years\, and are blessed to be able raise and disciple their three awesome children: Rebecca\, Andrew\, and David. Eric served a full Navy career – first as a Naval Flight Officer\, flying as a RIO in the F-14D Super Tomcat\, and a WSO in the F-18F Super Hornet/Rhino. Later he served as the Computer Science\, Cyber\, and Modeling and Simulation Program Officer at the Naval Postgraduate School. Upon retirement\, God called the McMullens into full-time missions work\, partnering with Russians to lead short-term missions trips to share the Gospel\, make disciples\, and train and multiply other believers. Eric and Melanie are passionate about the vision of reaching the world through personal evangelism\, discipleship\, and multiplication… until there’s No Place Left to do that!\nTopic:\n“Reaching ‘No Place Left’ in the Military and Around the World”\nDo you want to see the military reached for Christ?  The world reached for Christ?\nAs we prepare to celebrate our Lord’s Advent into our world\, we’ll take time to think about those we know who are still far from Him. As a former Navy fighter pilot\, I appreciate how challenging evangelism and disciple-making can be in our military setting. So in an engaging and interactive series of evening sessions\, we’ll talk about practical tools and bring in stories – both from the military context as well as from my recent experiences from the field of Russian missions.\nGuest Ambassadors:\nLTC Rob & Emily Kurz\, USA (Ret.)\nMake a Reservation

DESCRIPTION:Speaker:\nCol Chet Arnold\, USMC (Ret.)\nCol Chet & Mrs Michelle Arnold USMC (Ret) serve with OCF as the Southeast Coastal Region Coordinators home based in Pensacola FL. They have been married over 38 years and have seven children and five grandchildren. \nTopic:\n“The Gospel in Judges”\nThe Gospel comes alive in Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. Judges relates the story of the nation of Israel’s continued sin and God’s continued work in and through them to bring about His glorious plan. This book of the Bible helps us understand how we are to live in this broken world walking through life in these broken vessels and how through it all our God remains faithful and true to His promises. Judges clearly shows that God’s people need a king. Thank God for King Jesus! \nGuest Ambassadors:\nLTC Keith and Jennifer Purvis\, USA (Ret.)\nRegister for WSR 2

DESCRIPTION:Speaker:\nLt Col Paul Homan\, USAF\nDr. Paul Homan and his wife Janee are long-time OCFer’s.  They met in the OCF cadet ministry while attending the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in 2000.  They have volunteered within OCF by leading small group bible studies at numerous bases over their career and have served on the USAFA cadet OCF ministry team twice.  Janee separated from the Air Force in 2006 and now spends most of her time raising their four children (Ben -16\, Emily – 14\, Matthew – 11\, and Sara -7) as well as running a successful property management business.  Paul is a Lt Col in the Air Force and holds a BS\, MS\, and PhD in Meteorology. \nTopic:\n“Science and the Bible”\nScience is often upheld in our society today as the ultimate truth. As Christians\, we know the ultimate source for truth is God’s Word (John 17:17). So does modern science contradict or affirm the Bible? In this series\, we will look at what science is and provide an interpretive lens to view “modern science” based upon a biblical worldview. Kim and his wife\, Kari Ann\, have three adult children\, who have all served at Spring Canyon and now serve the Lord in other arenas. \nTodd Plotner is the Director of Operations at Spring Canyon Retreat and Conference Center.  Todd is a 1993 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy\, where OCF and the Navigators were foundational in helping him take ownership of his faith and begin leading small groups.  Todd served 21 years as an Army Corps of Engineers officer\, retiring after serving as ROTC Professor of Military Science at Washington State University.  Todd and his wife Andrea have been married 25 years and have three sons: Everett (23)\, Brian (20) and Nate (16). \nAndy Truitt is the Director of Interns and Outdoor Leadership at Spring Canyon Retreat and Conference Center.  A 1993 graduate of the Air Force Academy\, Andy served as Finance/Budget Officer for six years\, and then followed a calling to many diverse professional opportunities.  Most recently\, he served as National Director for a Christian\, classical\, home school organization.  Andy and his wife\, Heidi\, who is a 1994 graduate of the Air Force Academy\, have three sons:  a senior in college\, a sophomore in college\, and a senior in high school. \nGuest Ambassadors:\nJosiah & Hannah Bedrosian\nTopic:\nFighting the Good Fight of Faith\nThe Word of God tells us that while serving in life it will be a “fight.”  What does that mean\, and how should it impact your life and ministry?  Looking at various Scriptures\, three Spring Canyon Directors\, Kim Hawthorne\, Todd Plotner\, and Andy Truitt\, will characterize our “fight” and help us focus our daily walk to “finish” well and keep the “faith.”  You will walk away with a deeper understanding of how to passionately serve and lead in the workplace\, family\, and in the community\, as you strive to glorify God by finishing strong.  We all desire to say\, just as Paul did over 1950 years ago that; “I have fought the good fight\, I’ve finished the race\, I’ve kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness.”

DESCRIPTION:GUEST AMBASSADOR | Col Scott Frickenstein\, USAF (Ret.)\nSPEAKER | Lt Col Paul Homan\, USAF\nTOPIC | Science and the Bible\nScience is often upheld in our society today as the ultimate truth.  As Christians\, we know the ultimate source for truth is God’s Word (John 17:17).  So does modern science contradict or affirm the Bible? In this series\, we will look at what science is and provide an interpretive lens to view “modern science” based upon a biblical worldview.  A host of current scientific and biblical topics will be touched on including creation\, evolution\, climate change\, and the flood. \n\nMake a reservation

Sue introduced Dean to OCF when they were married and both were active duty Army at the time. God used OCF to bring Dean to Christ in 1988. He would love to tell you the story of God’s faithfulness in his life. Dean and Sue continued to participate in OCF in Germany during an overseas tour\, at Penn State during graduate school\, and at USMA during a teaching assignment. Eventually\, God called them to a leadership position at Spring Canyon. They served as the Keepers of the Spring from 2002 to 2013. They have many wonderful memories of serving and sacrificing and growing during their time at camp.    \n    Dean and Sue are the proud parents of four children\, now all grown up and living their own lives loving God. Dean works as an engineering and technical consultant. They love living in Colorado and being closer to some of their kids and friends. They attend New Life Downtown church and stay active with OCF in various ways. God continues to work in their lives through lots of prayer\, Bible study\, serving\, and fellowship.
