SUMMARY:Winter Sports Retreat #2
DESCRIPTION:Speaker(s):\nCol Dale Holland\, USAF (Ret.)\n\n\n\n\nColonel (ret) Dale Holland is a 30-year US Air Force Veteran from Hooper\, CO. He graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1987 and has commanded Special Operations Forces in Iraq\, Africa and Europe as well as serving some of our nation’s key civilian leaders in the Pentagon\, Washington DC. He is a seasoned combat pilot with over 6\,000 hours of flying experience in both fixed and rotary-wing aircraft and continues to serve today as an airline pilot. His leadership experience over the last 40 years ranges from small teams to large complex organizations both overseas and here at home. Serving as the Vice Commandant of Cadets for the US Air Force Academy was one of the highlights of his career and an amazing opportunity to pass on his passion for leadership to the next generation. His greatest blessing; however\, is his lovely wife\, Debi\, and their 5 children.\n\n\n\n\nGuest Ambassadors:\nRoyce & Shawn Bervig\nTopic:\nGod’s Peace in an Anxious World\n\nThe world around us has the potential of making us more and more anxious about life.  We sometimes worry about things too much and can become focused on pursuing careers\, status\, power\, or just about anything but what God would have us pursue.  How can we effectively live in this world while being citizens of God’s Kingdom?  The choices we each make everyday matter.  Come let’s explore “God’s peace in an anxious world” as we look back on 2020 and look forward to 2021.

SUMMARY:Winter Sports Retreat #1
DESCRIPTION:Speaker(s):\nKim Hawthorne\, Todd Plotner\, and Andy Truitt\nKim Hawthorne is the Center Director of Spring Canyon Retreat and Conference Center in Buena Vista\, CO\, and President of the Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA) Rocky Mountain Section.  A 1986 graduate of the Air Force Academy\, Kim retired as a colonel after almost 28 years of service as a fighter pilot in leadership positions. Kim and his wife\, Kari Ann\, have three adult children\, who have all served at Spring Canyon and now serve the Lord in other arenas. \nTodd Plotner is the Director of Operations at Spring Canyon Retreat and Conference Center.  Todd is a 1993 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy\, where OCF and the Navigators were foundational in helping him take ownership of his faith and begin leading small groups.  Todd served 21 years as an Army Corps of Engineers officer\, retiring after serving as ROTC Professor of Military Science at Washington State University.  Todd and his wife Andrea have been married 25 years and have three sons: Everett (23)\, Brian (20) and Nate (16). \nAndy Truitt is the Director of Interns and Outdoor Leadership at Spring Canyon Retreat and Conference Center.  A 1993 graduate of the Air Force Academy\, Andy served as Finance/Budget Officer for six years\, and then followed a calling to many diverse professional opportunities.  Most recently\, he served as National Director for a Christian\, classical\, home school organization.  Andy and his wife\, Heidi\, who is a 1994 graduate of the Air Force Academy\, have three sons:  a senior in college\, a sophomore in college\, and a senior in high school. \nGuest Ambassadors:\nJosiah & Hannah Bedrosian\nTopic:\nFighting the Good Fight of Faith\nThe Word of God tells us that while serving in life it will be a “fight.”  What does that mean\, and how should it impact your life and ministry?  Looking at various Scriptures\, three Spring Canyon Directors\, Kim Hawthorne\, Todd Plotner\, and Andy Truitt\, will characterize our “fight” and help us focus our daily walk to “finish” well and keep the “faith.”  You will walk away with a deeper understanding of how to passionately serve and lead in the workplace\, family\, and in the community\, as you strive to glorify God by finishing strong.  We all desire to say\, just as Paul did over 1950 years ago that; “I have fought the good fight\, I’ve finished the race\, I’ve kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness.”

SUMMARY:Winter Sports Retreat II
DESCRIPTION:GUEST AMBASSADOR | Col Scott Frickenstein\, USAF (Ret.)\nSPEAKER | Lt Col Paul Homan\, USAF\nTOPIC | Science and the Bible\nScience is often upheld in our society today as the ultimate truth.  As Christians\, we know the ultimate source for truth is God’s Word (John 17:17).  So does modern science contradict or affirm the Bible? In this series\, we will look at what science is and provide an interpretive lens to view “modern science” based upon a biblical worldview.  A host of current scientific and biblical topics will be touched on including creation\, evolution\, climate change\, and the flood. \n\nMake a reservation

DESCRIPTION:GUEST AMBASSADORS | LTC Todd and Andrea Plotner\, USA (Ret.)  \nSPEAKER | Dean Rizzo \nTOPIC | Rejoicing with Christ \n    Dean and Sue are longtime OCF members and leaders. Sue introduced Dean to OCF when they were married and both were active duty Army at the time. God used OCF to bring Dean to Christ in 1988. He would love to tell you the story of God’s faithfulness in his life. Dean and Sue continued to participate in OCF in Germany during an overseas tour\, at Penn State during graduate school\, and at USMA during a teaching assignment. Dean left active duty service in 1995.  \n     Dean and Sue have been linked to Spring Canyon for decades. Sue started coming to Spring Canyon with her family when she was a teenager and immediately brought Dean to camp after they were married. Eventually\, God called them to a leadership position at Spring Canyon. They served as the Keepers of the Spring from 2002 to 2013. They have many wonderful memories of serving and sacrificing and growing during their time at camp.    \n    Dean and Sue are the proud parents of four children\, now all grown up and living their own lives loving God. They have two grandkids and they love to watch them grow. Their kids spent a lot of time growing up at Spring Canyon and God used that time to shape their own faith journeys.  \n    Dean and Sue now live in Colorado Springs. Dean works as an engineering and technical consultant. They love living in Colorado and being closer to some of their kids and friends. They attend New Life Downtown church and stay active with OCF in various ways. God continues to work in their lives through lots of prayer\, Bible study\, serving\, and fellowship. They will tell you that knowing God personally has been the greatest gift that both have been privileged to understand. \nMake a reservation
