SUMMARY:Summer Celebration #4 (Call for Availability)
DESCRIPTION:Speaker(s):\nDr. Bob Ewell\, Lt Col\, USAF (Ret.)\nBob Ewell has a life-long passion to know God’s Word\, obey it\, teach it\, and help others do the same. He and his wife\, June\, celebrated their 50th anniversary in September 2018 and have four grown children and eight grandchildren. \nBob graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics from Clemson University\, and during a 20-year career in the US Air Force\, served in space operations\, instructor at Squadron Officer School\, Air Force Space Command Headquarters\, and commander of a training squadron. He earned a Master’s of Education from Troy State\, and an Ed.D. from Auburn. After retiring from the Air Force in Colorado Springs in 1990\, he operated his own statistical consulting business for 10 years before serving as Minister of Discipleship at a church in Alabama. Returning to Colorado in 2006\, Bob and June settled in Monument and began to serve full time with The Navigators\, “equipping ordinary people to make a difference where they are and helping willing pastors do the same.” \nBob will be the primary speaker\, but June is available and eager to engage with interested women\, especially one-on-one. \nTopic:\n“Everyone on the Wall!”\nJesus observed a shortage of workers in Matthew 9.36 – 10.5. Nehemiah observed a problem with broken down walls. Their solutions were remarkably similar: full participation! Dr. Bob Ewell\, Lt Col\, USAF (retired) and currently serving with The Navigators\, uses a ready smile and engaging style to encourage you to be involved in God’s great work. Bob specializes in simple\, doable\, “start small” processes\, including\, new for 2021\, a “Secret Sauce” that Jesus lived by and we can too! Spend a week with us and return home not only motivated but also empowered to make a difference in your world. \nGuest Ambassadors:\nTBD

SUMMARY:Summer Celebration #2
DESCRIPTION:Speaker(s):\nJim Ellis\, CDR\, USN (Ret.)\, PhD\nJim Ellis is the Pastor in Residence and Adjunct Bible Faculty at Huntington University in Peoria\, AZ. He spent 7 years in the Coast Guard and 24 years as a Navy Chaplain. Upon retirement from the Navy he was a professor at Union University for 7 years and a Department Chair and Dean at Arizona Christian University for 6 years. Jim was the Pastor of Counseling at Redemption Church in Peoria for 3 years and is still an active Elder. He has trained military chaplains and pastors who serve the military in Vietnam\, Ukraine\, Bulgaria and other countries. He has been married for 43 years to Shirley. They have 3 daughters\, 2 sons in law and a grandson\, Griffin. \nTopic:\n“The Drama of Marriage: Finding Our Place”\nStories are an important part of our lives. All stories have a bit of drama which is defined as “an exciting\, emotional\, or unexpected series of events or set of circumstances.” This aptly defines God’s unfolding plan of redemption in scripture and in our lives. We learn from stories where we came from\, who we are and about our family background and roots. Stories inspire us\, sober us and ground us. The Drama of Marriage weaves together the three most important stories in our lives. The Biblical story\, your personal story and your married story. Common elements in all three are Beginnings\, Brokenness\, Wilderness\, Gethsemane and Reconciliation. Where are you and your marriage in these 3 stories? This week will explore these stories intersections and be an encouragement to press on in the race marked out for us. \nGuest Ambassadors:\nCol PK and Lindsey Carlton\, USAF

SUMMARY:Summer Celebration #1 (Homeschool Week)
DESCRIPTION:Speaker(s):\nWesley Dickinson\nWesley Dickinson is a rare homeschool parent\, because he’s a stay-at-home\, homeschool dad.  Moreover\, he directs a Classical Conversations Foundations and Essentials community of almost 30 families near Offutt AFB in Omaha\, Nebraska\, where his two children attend.  His educational background\, outside of homeschooling\, includes a bachelor degree and a master degree in civil engineering with teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  He and his wife\, Mindy\, will celebrate their 12th anniversary this year.  She is patient\, and his daughters are adventurous.  Wesley also enjoys spending time in the woods\, at the range\, studying Latin\, evangelizing classical education\, and cooking as often as possible. \nTopic:\n“CC Practicum: The Art of Grammar”\nClassical Conversations’ 2021 Summer Practicum focuses on Attending to the Essentials: The Art of Grammar.  Our daily goal is to inspire and equip parents eager to become confident “everyday educators.”  The encouragement of community\, the insights of other lead learners\, and the hands-on practice we’ll enjoy will build assurance and skills—for learning and for teaching! This summer\, we will work on “attending to the essentials” of English grammar!  As we dig into these basics\, we’ll uncover the beauty in the foundations of our language\, and we will discover the treasures waiting to be explored with our families.  Together we’ll mine those riches waiting to be excavated\, understood\, and displayed as we become better readers and writers because we know our language from the roots. \nGuest Ambassadors:\nCH (Col) Paul and Debbie Sutter\, USSF

He is a seasoned combat pilot with over 6\,000 hours of flying experience in both fixed and rotary-wing aircraft and continues to serve today as an airline pilot. His leadership experience over the last 40 years ranges from small teams to large complex organizations both overseas and here at home. Serving as the Vice Commandant of Cadets for the US Air Force Academy was one of the highlights of his career and an amazing opportunity to pass on his passion for leadership to the next generation. His greatest blessing; however\, is his lovely wife\, Debi\, and their 5 children.\n\n\n\n\nGuest Ambassadors:\nRoyce & Shawn Bervig\nTopic:\nGod’s Peace in an Anxious World\n\nThe world around us has the potential of making us more and more anxious about life.  We sometimes worry about things too much and can become focused on pursuing careers\, status\, power\, or just about anything but what God would have us pursue.  How can we effectively live in this world while being citizens of God’s Kingdom?  The choices we each make everyday matter.  Come let’s explore “God’s peace in an anxious world” as we look back on 2020 and look forward to 2021.

SUMMARY:Winter Sports Retreat #1
DESCRIPTION:Speaker(s):\nKim Hawthorne\, Todd Plotner\, and Andy Truitt\nKim Hawthorne is the Center Director of Spring Canyon Retreat and Conference Center in Buena Vista\, CO\, and President of the Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA) Rocky Mountain Section.  A 1986 graduate of the Air Force Academy\, Kim retired as a colonel after almost 28 years of service as a fighter pilot in leadership positions. Kim and his wife\, Kari Ann\, have three adult children\, who have all served at Spring Canyon and now serve the Lord in other arenas. \nTodd Plotner is the Director of Operations at Spring Canyon Retreat and Conference Center.  Todd is a 1993 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy\, where OCF and the Navigators were foundational in helping him take ownership of his faith and begin leading small groups.  Todd served 21 years as an Army Corps of Engineers officer\, retiring after serving as ROTC Professor of Military Science at Washington State University.  Todd and his wife Andrea have been married 25 years and have three sons: Everett (23)\, Brian (20) and Nate (16). \nAndy Truitt is the Director of Interns and Outdoor Leadership at Spring Canyon Retreat and Conference Center.  A 1993 graduate of the Air Force Academy\, Andy served as Finance/Budget Officer for six years\, and then followed a calling to many diverse professional opportunities.  Most recently\, he served as National Director for a Christian\, classical\, home school organization.  Andy and his wife\, Heidi\, who is a 1994 graduate of the Air Force Academy\, have three sons:  a senior in college\, a sophomore in college\, and a senior in high school. \nGuest Ambassadors:\nJosiah & Hannah Bedrosian\nTopic:\nFighting the Good Fight of Faith\nThe Word of God tells us that while serving in life it will be a “fight.”  What does that mean\, and how should it impact your life and ministry?  Looking at various Scriptures\, three Spring Canyon Directors\, Kim Hawthorne\, Todd Plotner\, and Andy Truitt\, will characterize our “fight” and help us focus our daily walk to “finish” well and keep the “faith.”  You will walk away with a deeper understanding of how to passionately serve and lead in the workplace\, family\, and in the community\, as you strive to glorify God by finishing strong.  We all desire to say\, just as Paul did over 1950 years ago that; “I have fought the good fight\, I’ve finished the race\, I’ve kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness.”
