He is look forward to leveraging his experiences and the unique outdoor settings to encourage an integrated Christian faith that shapes how they make decisions, relate to others, and step forward in their careers to glorify God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Co-Mentor: LT Jake Skimmons, USCG

Lieutenant Jacob Skimmons is a staff engineer at the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Center in Washington, D.C.  After graduating from the Coast Guard Academy in 2020, he served as damage control assistant aboard the heavy icebreaker POLAR STAR (WAGB-10), then earned a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  He is also a 2021 Saratoga Fellow and second-place winner of the U.S. Naval Institute’s 2024 Coast Guard Essay Contest.  For recreation, he enjoys cycling, rowing, and being outdoors.
Jake would like to pay forward the experience he had at Rocky Mountain High as a cadet in 2019.  Since the program seeks to build Christian faith in cadets and midshipmen through challenges in nature, it is an opportunity to serve God with both my outdoorsman and leadership skills.  His goal is to build a solid fellowship among the crew and inspire faith by encouraging them in taking on challenges, both physically in the Collegiate Peaks, and spiritually in God’s word.  Through that, we will all draw nearer to God.
